Panaji:  Goa Bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted bail to a Day Care centre staff who was accused of poisoning and endangering life of an infact in Ponda town.

High Court Judge Nutan Sardesai granted bail to Renuka Shinde who was arrested for allegedly trying to poison an infant at Day Care centre in Ponda town.

She was arrested by Ponda police on September 23, 2019, after which her bail applications were rejected by lower courts.

The 61-year-old accused was granted bail after the Court observed that the food analyst to whom the sample of milk allegedly laced with tobacco was sent was “not a competent authority to carry out the analysis.”

Advocate Damodar Dhond appearing on behalf of the accused had pointed out that police, during their investigation, had attached milk bottle with the brownish particles inside and it was sent for analysis to the analyst who was not a competent authority.
