Goa government has conceptualized two IT and ITES parks at Chimbel, a village near Panaji and Porvorim, a suburb of the capital city.
“Entire focus of these parks is to create employment generation for the local youth, who have to go to other states in search of jobs,” Khaunte told reporters in Panaji on Friday after presenting the details of IT parks to the Members of Legislative Assembly and other stakeholders.
The minister said that the State government wants to have smaller IT parks compared to the large ones in the metro cities.
“We would like to have these parks in each taluka so that the employment opportunities can be given to the youth there,” he said.
Khaunte said that the State government has already started tying up with the multinational companies to start “skilling academies.”
“ We have also started skilling academies tying up with multinational companies to skill graduates to make them industry ready. The initiative has been taken by the government to ensure that the jobs are given only to Goans,” he said.
Khaunte said that last 20 months, the State government has put in place proper policy for IT, which also speaks of the incentives for investment in this sector.
“We need to make Goa as a IT destination. IT industries have already started coming down. We need to put adequate infrastructure in place and backbone for the industries is in place,” he said.
Khaunte said that the State government is vying for hi tech companies to come down which will create employment to the locals and also with better salary packages.
