Panaji: Goa’s engagement in the upcoming G20 summit will make the coastal the brand of global recognition, chief minister Pramod Sawant said.
Addressing an event organised by World Travel and Tourism Council, Sawant said that it is heartening to know that World Trade and Tourism Council India Initiative (WTTCII) will be partnering with the upcoming g20 summit along with the Union Tourism ministry and Goa government.
“This will change the way the world look at India and Goa would be a brand of global recognition. The recognition of WTTCII global member (for the summit) will elavate Goa’s tourism industry and give impetus to the growth of Goa,” he said.
Earlier this year, Sawant had announced that PM Narendra Modi had agreed to hold one of the G20 summit events in Goa. India, which will hold the G20 presidency from December 01, 2022 to November 30, 2023, is expected to host the G20 summit next year.
Speaking further, Sawant said that after taking the charge as the chief minister, he has given utmost importance to self-reliance.
“This mission aims at Goa being self sufficient and lead us in various aspects education, sanitation, good governance, promotion of local entrepreuners,” he said.
Sawant said that he is optimistic that WTTCII will stand up with Goa and Goans.
“I appeal representatives of all the famous brands to come forward in skilling and upskiling of Goan youth to gain employability and explore entrepreneruship aspirations,” he said.
Sawant said that their support can help youth of Goa who are ready to take the challenges of the world.
