Goa welcomes FM’s announcement on stimulus package for tourism

Panaji: The Goa government has welcomed the decision of Union Finance minister Nirmala Seetharaman to provide stimulus package for tourism industry.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday welcomed the announcement by the Finance Minister claiming that it will help in boosting the tourism in the state.

“I am yet to go through the details of the decision. Once I go through it, I will react in detail,” he told reporters at BJP headquarters in Panaji.

State BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that the decision will help to revive the tourism sector in the state.

He said that post-covid such a stimulus was required for the tourism sector, which has been severely affected due to the pandemic.

The Finance minister has announced slew of measures including new scheme to revive tourism with 100 per cent guaranteed loans, financial support to be extended to more than 11,000 registered tourists guides, Travel and Tourism Stakeholders.

She also announced free tourist visas to five lakh tourists. The scheme is applicable till March 31, 2022 or till the first five lakh visas get covered, whichever is earlier.
