Goa Tamnar Transmission Project will not cut 13,000 trees: CM

Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ruled out that 13,000 trees would be chopped to make a way for the electricity poles of 400 KV Goa Tamnar Transmission Project.

He said that the wrong impression is being created that the several thousand trees are being cut for the project. Sawant said that though 13,000 trees come within the area where poles are scheduled to be installed, only those trees which will be cut, which are required to lay foundation for the poles.

“Only six poles would be built in Wildlife Sanctuary while rest are in private areas,” he said.

Sawant said that the power project is required considering requirement of the state for next 10 years.
