Goa state action plan on climate change is on anvil

Porvorim: State Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral told the House on Thursday that the state level Steering Committee for Climate Change is in the process of preparation of ‘Goa State Action Plan on Climate Change’.
In a writte reply tabled during ongoing State Legislative Assembly Session, Cabral said that the state level steering committee for climate change is in the process of preparatuon of Goa State Action Plan on Climate Change.
He said that New Delhi based NABARD Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. (Wholly owned subsidiary of NABARD) has been awarded the task of preparation of Goa State Action Plan on Climate Change, Concept Note and detailed Project Report.
Responding to a question on fundings for the report, Cabral said State Level Steering Committee for Climate Change has already approached Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) to avail grants assistance and same is pending from them.
As per the notification issued on September 2016, State Level Steering Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary for National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change.
Goa has proposed for revival and restoration of vulnerable inland riverine  and coastal eco system in Goa to acclimatize to the changing climate, the minister said adding that the project will cover coastal, revirine, agriculture and related areas.
