Panaji: Goa Police have summoned AAP Goa President Amit Palekar on Friday (tomorrow) at 11 AM in connection with the video released by land grab accused Siddiqui Suleman Khan.
Old Goa Police on Thursday issued summons to Palekar, who has been questioned twice earlier—on December 24, 2024, and January 9, 2025—in connection with the video released by Siddiqui, who had alleged that he was forced to shoot the video by Palekar.
The summons stated that there are reasonable grounds to question him to ascertain facts and circumstances in relation to the ongoing investigation.
Old Goa Police have warned that failure to attend or comply with the terms of the notice could lead to Palekar’s arrest under Section 35(6) of BNSS, 2023.
Siddiqui, who was arrested by the Crime Branch in a series of land grab cases, had escaped from police custody on December 13, 2024, and was later arrested in Kerala on December 23.
Old Goa Police have also arrested police constable Amit Naik for allowing the accused to escape from the Crime Branch’s custody at its Ribandar office near Panaji.
The case against Naik has been filed under Section 156 (allowing prisoner to escape), Section 249(b) (harboring a criminal), Section 253(b) (harboring an offender), Section 260(c) (intentional omission to apprehend on the part of a public servant bound to apprehend a person under sentence or lawfully committed), and Section 262 (escape from police custody) of BNS.
