Panaji: The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa Police has arrested a 33-year-old Swiggy delivery agent for allegedly peddling ganja in disguise of food deliveries, officials said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Rahul Uppaldinni, a resident of Vaddem in Vasco, was caught during a late-night raid at Upasnagar, Sancoale on Saturday, Superintendent of Police (Anti Narcotic Cell) Sunita Sawant said.

She said that during the raid 226 grams of ganja worth Rs 22,600 was seized from his possession. A two-wheeler scooter and a mobile phone used for the illicit trade were also attached, the SP added.

According to officials, Uppaldinni allegedly used his position as a delivery agent to supply the drug, particularly at places frequented by the youth.

“ANC had received inputs that ganja was being supplied under the guise of Swiggy deliveries. Our team kept a close watch using both technical and human intelligence and succeeded in nabbing the accused,”she added

The accused was produced before a magistrate and remanded to five days of police custody. Further investigations are underway, Sawant said.
