Panaji: Goa government on Wednesday unveiled Social Media Influencers Policy to rope in the influencers to create the content promoting the government schemes.
Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant in presence of Vice Chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa Delilah Lobo launched the policy, which is one of the first such initiative in the country.
Sawant said that the initiative will bridge the gap between the government schemes and the beneficiaries. ESG has been appointed as a nodal agency to implement the policy.
He said that the social media influencers have become of the most important tool in creating awareness about various issues, that is why the state government decided to rope them.
Sawant said that the budgetary provision of Rs two crore would be made for the policy. He said that the social media influencers can apply for this scheme online till February 14.
The chief minister said that the influencers would be empanelled depending other subscriber base and other criteria.
“Sometimes, the social media influencers are busy criticising the government. They can now use their skill for good purpose,” he said.
