Panaji: Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, along with his entire cabinet and core members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), departed on Saturday on a special flight to attend Mahakumbh at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The Governor, the Chief Minister, cabinet members, and BJP leaders took a special flight from Dabolim International Airport on Saturday morning.
Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, the Chief Minister said that it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in such an event.
He stated that the state government has already planned three special trains from Goa to Prayagraj, of which two have already departed.
Sawant mentioned that considering the overwhelming response from the people, the state government is contemplating the possibility of operating additional trains between the coastal state and Mahakumbh.
BJP Goa President Damodar Naik said that it is a privilege to be part of such an auspicious ceremony.
“The government has respected the sentiments of every citizen by arranging special trains to Prayagraj,” he said.
Sources stated that Sawant is accompanied by the entire cabinet, except Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
The Goa delegation is expected to take a dip for Mahakumbh on Saturday evening and will return the same night, sources stated.
