Porvorim: Goa Forward Party leader and Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar has opposed expansion of garbage treatment plant at Saligao, while demanding that the load on this plant should be eased by constructing similar facilities across the State.
Participating in the Calling Attention motion moved by Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, Salgaonkar said that the attempts should not be made to expand the plant by bringing in new machinery.
“Restrict the capacity of Saligao plant to 100 metric tonnes per day. In the guise of replacing the machinery, don’t bring bigger machinery there,” he told the House.
Salgaonkar said that the load on this facility should be eased by constructing similar plants across the State.
