Panaji: Goa Forward Party MLA Vinod Palienkar on Friday resigned from the House reducing the strength of the party to one in the Assembly.
Palienkar, representing Siolim Assembly constituency, tendered his resignation to the office of Speaker on Friday. He becomes the second party MLA after Jayesh Salgaonkar to resign ahead of the polls.
GFP chief Vijai Sardesai becomes the only MLA of the party who is currently a member of the House.
Speaking to reporters, Palienkar said that he has resigned as his supporters want him to contest as an Independent from Siolim assembly constituency for upcoming election.
