Margao: Margao Municipal Councillor Mahesh Amonkar has demanded that the stringent action be taken against illegalities in Gandhi Market. He said that he has taken up the issue with MMC Chairperson Damodar Shirodkar, who has assured him to look into the matter.
Amonkar said that two shops were taken over by a businessman in Gandhi market, illegally, after the demise of the original owner. He said that there is no deed to transfer these shops to a new owner.
The councilor said that the new shop owner has no blood relation with the original owner. Amonkar said that the businessman has taken the local civic authorities for granted as he has demolished the boundary between both the shops to widen the premises.
He said that the municipal council should come down heavily on the illegalities in the market.
