Flooding during monsoon was a regular feature in Mala in past.
However our Government first led by Manohar Parrikar and now led by Dr Pramod Sawant took ample steps to make this area flood free.
Manohar Parrikar was instrumental in 2004 to construct and commission a pumping station in Mala to Pump flood water to Ourem Creek.
Currently WRD Minister Shri Vinod Palienkar under leadership of Dr Pramod Sawant augmented capacity of pumps from 50 HP to 100 HP so that any amount of rain water can be drained off easily within stipulated time.
In addition a diesel generator set also has been installed so as to ensure pumping even when power fails.
Our emphasis is on creating safe environment for residents of Mala even during heavy rains.
