Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant has said that Bharatiya Janata Party will form its government in the southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the next ten years.
Addressing a gathering to mark party’s foundation day on Monday (yesterday), Sawant recalled the contribution of former PM late Atal Behari Vajpayee to the country.
The event “Atal Smruti” was held in Panaji.
“It was during the time of late Atal Behari Vajpayee regime that he showcased to the world that India is also a super power. He conducted nuclear test. He showed to the world that we (India) have the capability to do the test,” Sawant said, after felicitating several veteran BJP leaders who contributed for the growth of the party in the state.
Sawant said that late Vajpayee took various decisions during his tenure of four-and-half year like revolution in the mobile phone connectivity.
“He played pivotal role in the mobile phone (cell phone) revolution in the country. He carried the concept of mobile phone to every part of the country,” the chief minister said.
Sawant said that late Vajpayee had predicted that despite losing the power with mere one vote in the centre, the party will have a come back with full majority in the years to come.
Sawant said that Vajpayee had then predicted that the party will rule the country for next 25 years. He said that late Vajpayee was a “visionary leader” who had faith in the strength of the organisation.
The chief minister said that the party may not have the government in the states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu for now but in coming ten years, we will have our governments in these (Kerala and Tamil Nadu) states.
“The work which had started during the time of Atal Behari Vajpayee and L K Advani is boring fruits now,” he said adding that the party cadre still remembers that nostalgic times.
