Panaji: The directorate of fisheries has made knowledge of Gujarati
language as desirable qualification for the driver’s post,
advertisement for which was issued on Thursday.
Marathi and Konkani are other two languages, whose knowledge is made
desirable for the post. Total one post is advertised by the
department.
Minister for Fisheries Vinod Palyekar has taken serious  note of the
matter and directed department to withdraw the advertisement
immediately.
“I have ordered director fisheries to immediately withdraw the
advertisement. This is totally unacceptable,” he said.
Minister has assured to take action against the officer who was
involved in releasing such advertisement.
This is not the first time that government has made such goof-up. In
November 2016, directorate of women and child department had issued
advertisement for 14 posts of probation officers (female), with
knowledge of Gujarati as desirable qualification for the post.
