FDA shuts down yet another Packaged Drinking Water unit operating without Licence under unhygienic Conditions

Mapusa: Team of Food Safety Officers Comprising of Shri RajaramPatil, ShivdasNaik, Atul Desai,  ShrutiPilernekar, assisted by Shri Pradeep Parsekar and BabajiKarkonkar , inspected the premises of M/S Mount Spring, Operating from Canca Bandh, Parra, Bardez-Goa. Unit was found manufacturing Packaged Drinking Water, without licence under Food Safety and Standards Act, and under unhygienic conditions.

The premise is a temporary structure made up of iron grills and cement sheets at the back side of residential house.

Well water was used for filling the 20ltr Jars, which was done manually, in total non compliance to the requirements under Food Safety and Standards Act.

The unit has been shut down.

Packaged drinking water manufactured under these unhygienic conditions, whose quality could not be vouched, was found being supplied to the various renowned hotels, shacks, caterers, office and shop premises , including the Banks.

Public and the Food Business Operators are warned against consuming such Packaged Drinking Water , which is manufactured under Unhygienic conditions.

It is advised to purchase the food articles only from the Licensed dealers and the packs which carry the FSSAI Licence number.

The unit was found operated by  ShriSurajXetgaokar, and AmteshSawant.

Food Business Operators are once again warned to not to conduct any Food Business without obtaining Licence from Directorate of Food and DrugdAdmn.

Director, FDA  SmtJyotiSardesai has said that Food Safety Officers will be there in the field continuously to detect such violations , and legal action will be initiated against these violators.
