Vasco: The officers from Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Goa Chapter on Monday seized about 24 export containers at MPT yard in Mormugao.
The containers were suspected to be containing“natural Garnet” by M/s. Aryan Mines & Minerals, Thane, Maharashtra. #Goa #COVID-19
As per MPT Sources, Natural Garnet can only be canalized through Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) however the exporter had mis-classified the cargo as ‘NATURAL ABRASIVE STONE SIZE 30-60’ and attempted to export a restricted item.
“Natural Garnet is a ‘Beach Sand Mineral’ and is restricted for export as per DGFT’s Notification number 26/2015 dated August 21 2018. Investigation into export of consignments by DRI sleuths suspected to be “natural Garnet” by M/s. Aryan Mines & Minerals, Thane, Maharashtra. Total of 24 containers seized, Valued approx 1.25 crores” MPT Sources said.
“As per DGFT’s Notification No-26/2015-2020 dated 21 August, 2018, the export of Beach Sand Minerals has been brought under STE and should be canalized through Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL).
