Panaji: Goa’s domestic air connectivity received a boost with regional carrier Star Air commencing a new non-stop service between Manohar International Airport at Mopa and Mundra in Gujarat, officials said on Thursday.

The new route, which began operations on June 23, will operate five times a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, providing a direct air link between Goa and the western Gujarat city.

According to the Goa Tourism Department, the new service is expected to improve connectivity between the two states, facilitate tourism, strengthen business linkages, and support greater economic exchange.

Welcoming the launch, Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said enhanced air connectivity was crucial to the state’s efforts to improve accessibility for visitors throughout the year.

“The commencement of the direct Goa-Mundra service marks another positive step in enhancing Goa’s domestic air connectivity. Improved accessibility is integral to our vision of making Goa a destination that is easy to reach throughout the year,” Khaunte said.

He expressed confidence that the new route would further strengthen travel and tourism ties between Goa and Gujarat.

State Tourism Director Kedar Naik said every new air route helps expand Goa’s tourism footprint and improves access for travellers from different parts of the country.

“The Goa-Mundra service opens another important gateway into the state, enabling more visitors from Gujarat and neighbouring regions to discover the diverse experiences that Goa has to offer,” he said.

The tourism department said the launch reflects the continued expansion of air connectivity to Goa and offers travellers an additional convenient travel option.

Officials said the department would continue to work with airline operators and aviation stakeholders to strengthen connectivity, improve visitor access, and support the sustainable growth of tourism in the coastal state.
