Panaji: Former Goa MLA Damodar Naik will be the next president of the Goa unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after he became the lone leader to file the nomination for the coveted post.
Naik is currently the State General Secretary of the BJP.
The BJP leader filed his nomination in the presence of central election observer Sunil Bansal, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, outgoing State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, and others.
Bansal stated that the core committee of the party met on Friday and unanimously decided to nominate 54-year-old Naik for the post.
He added that the formal announcement of Naik’s appointment will be made on Saturday.
The post became vacant after the tenure of outgoing President Sadanand Shet Tanavade ended.
