Dabolim to continue receiving domestic, international flights: CM

Porvorim: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the existing Dabolim airport in the state will continue to get domestic and international flights even after commissioning of new airport at Mopa in North Goa.
In a written reply tabled on the floor of the House by BJP MLA Francis Silveira, Sawant said that the existing Dabolim airport facility will continue even after commissioning of international airport at Mopa.
The first phase of Mopa airport is expected to be commissioned in the year 2021.
“The present proposal is that Dabolim Airport will continue its operations even after the commissioning of the new International Airport at Mopa,” the chief minister said.
“Dabolim airport will continue to receive both domestic and international flights as of now,” he said.
Sawant said that Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India vide letter No. AV.20015/11/2008-AD dated July 01, 2010 has communicated approval for continuation of civilian operations at Dabolim Civil Aviation Enclave, even after the commissioning of the new International Airport at Mopa.
