Vasco: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Goa Customs headed by Assistant Commissioner of Customs (Airport) Y B Sahare,  effected a seizure of 345 grams of gold bars valued at Rs 15,42,098 from Indigo Airline 6E-8445 which arrived from Dubai on October 31.

The modus operandi used by the smugglers was to conceal the gold underneath the passenger seat so that the same could be picked up by the domestic passenger travelling by the same aircraft from Goa to Mumbai or by the ground handling staff.

The whole exercise was conducted under the supervision of the Joint Commissioner of Customs and the Commissioner of Customs. Further investigation is in  progress.

During the calendar year 2020, the Customs of Goa Commissionerate has seized 6.607 Kgs of gold worth Rs. 2.50 crore at Dabolim international airport.
