COVID-19: MMC councilor becomes seventh fatality

Panaji:  A 72-year-old councilor from Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) succumbed to COVID019 infection during Sunday wee hours.

Pascoal D’Souza, MMC councilor, who was admitted in ESI hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 infection died in the wee hours of Sunday, a senior Health department official said.

Pascoal had tested positive for COVID-19 infection earlier last month after which he was admitted in ESI hospital at Margao, which is a designated facility to treat COVID-19.

He was councilor in MMC representing a ward in Mangor Hill area, which is declared as Containment Zone after more than 200 people were tested positive there.

This is the seventh person to succumb to COVID-19 infection Goa.

The coastal state has 1684 COVID-19 positive cases of which 825 are active.
