Panaji: Goa Congress workers on Wednesday protested at State border in Canacona area of South Goa demanding sealing of borders with neighbouring states.

Congress’ Goa spokesman Janardhan Bhandari said that the party is worried over the increasing cases of COVID-19 infection due to failure of Pramod Sawant-led government to screen those entering the state.

Bhandari said that earlier, the Congress workers had protested at Patradevi in North Goa, pressing for the same demand.

“We demand that all the borders of the state needs to be sealed and people entering Goa should be tested for COVID-19 infection,” he said.

Bhandari said that it is also important that state government should announce complete lockdown in Goa in view of the rising cases of the infection.

The Congress leader said that the party also demanded that adequate safety equipments and personal protection kits should be provided to all the frontline workers.

He said that the BJP government in Goa is playing with the lives of the people. “It is purely due to incompetence of the BJP government that Goa has crossed 500 cases of COVID-19 infection in last fortnight,” Bhandari said.
