Panaji: After initially demanding to scrap the planning and development authority’s (PDAs) as demanded by the people, the Congress party today said that they have no problem if PDAs are allowed to function with only towns in its jurisdiction.

Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Agnelo Fernandes said that government should remove all the villages from the PDAs as per people’s wish and we stand by the people. “When we were holding PDAs, there were only towns in it and no villages,” he said.

“Remove all the villages and keep only towns in PDAs,” he demanded. Fernandes was former chairman of North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA).

While Fernandes went on stating that, his colleague Yatish Naik, who was sitting next to him, tried to put across that Congress wants all PDAs to be scrapped and the same has been mentioned in party’s election manifesto.

However, not withstanding him, Fernandes, said ‘we want only the villages to be out. We want Arpora- Nagoa Parra to be out of Calangute-Candolim PDA’.

Former Calangute MLA also demanded that government should keep on hold the Regional Plan 2021 and initiate process to draft new plan.
