Panaji: The Congress party in Goa on Tuesday expelled two of its state leaders for six years for their involvement in anti-party activities.

Congress Goa spokesperson Vivek D’Silva told reporters in Panaji that the State Executive Committee has expelled two women leaders — Manisha Usgaonkar and Shamila Siddiquie — for six years.

Usgaonkar is a senior party leader who contested the 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly election on a Congress ticket against BJP leader Vishwajit Rane from the Valpoi constituency, while Siddiquie was heading the social media cell of the party’s Goa unit.

Both leaders were suspended in June this year after issuing media statements against the appointment of Girish Chodankar as the new Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President.
