CM Sawant Welcomes Centre’s Decision to Extend National Commission for Safai Karamcharis

Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has welcomed the Union Cabinet’s decision to approve the extension of the tenure of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) for three years.

On Friday evening, Sawant wrote on his X handle: I welcome and congratulate the decision by the Union Cabinet led by PM Narendra Modi for approving the extension of the tenure of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis for three years beyond 31.03.2025, i.e., up to 31.03.2028.

He further wrote: The total financial implication for the extension for three years of the NCSK would be approximately Rs 50.91 crore.

Improving work conditions of Safai Karamcharis and elevating their lives with dignity and socio-economic upliftment, he added.

The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the extension of the tenure of the NCSK for a period of three years, up to March 2028. The present tenure of the Commission was set to end on March 31 and has now been extended until March 31, 2028.
