Porvorim: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant had a detailed discussion regarding the judgment of Hon’ble Supreme Court in respect of Mopa Airport project in which the Environmental Clearance granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has been suspended.
The review meeting was attended by Shri. Govind Jaiswal, IAS, Secretary-Environment, Dr. Suresh Shanbhogue, Director Civil Aviation, Shri. R. V. Sheshan, CEO, GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL) and other senior officers of GGIAL. The impact of the judgment on the project was also discussed. Hon’ble Supreme Court has remanded the matter to the Expert Appraisal Committee.
Dr. Shanbhogue informed the Chief Minister that temporary suspension of EC may delay the project timeline especially looking at the monsoon.
The Chief Minister has directed that he will personally review the progress in the matter on regular basis, so that all necessary steps are taken as per the directions of the Supreme Court to enable to restart the project work at Mopa.
