Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Thursday during which he discussed various issues concerning the state.
Chief minister’s office told reporters that Sawant called on the Prime minister in New Delhi on Thursday. “CM had fruitful discussion on wide ranging issues including mining, Mahadayi, Mopa, upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections as well as various developmental projects in the state.”
“The Prime Minister has assured his continued support and cooperation for Goa’s cause,” the CMO added.
State is currently facing ban on the iron ore mining industry after Supreme Court quashed 88 leases. The state is also fighting back Karnataka’s plan to divert water of Mahadayi river.
The Supreme Court has recently notified the award given by Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal which has allowed Karnataka to go ahead with its plan of constructing dams at Kalsa and Bhanduri.
