Panaji: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Tuesday said that the bulletin issued by Secretary of Goa Legislative Assembly announcing six-working-days for the upcoming session proves that CM’s assurance to decide duration of the session by considering Business Advisory Committee was false.
Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant while briefing mediapersons had stated that the duration of the assembly session, scheduled to start on February 2, will be decided by the Business Advisory Committee.
Alemao taunted that BAC means Bhaajap Advisory Committee for the chief minister.
The LoP said that it is now certain that the first six months of the year 2024 will have only six days of assembly as the next Session is expected only in July – August 2024.
“It is loud and clear that the BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has completely failed in fulfilling its own Commitments. Government could implement hardly 34 percent of the Budget Announcements of 2022-23. This year the performance will be worst as Government could initiate process of only 10.51 percent of the Budget Announcements of 2023-24. This data is revealed by the Department of Planning, Statistics andEvaluation,” Alemao said.
The LoP said that he will convene the Meeting of the Congress Legislature Party later this week followed by the Meeting of the Opposition MLA’s to discuss the Strategy for the upcoming Session. We will jointly table Questions, Zero Hour Mentions, Calling Attentions and Private Member Business. I am confident that we will collectively hold the Government to task.
“We will take up the issues pertaining to give additional time to the Opposition MLA’s during various Debates and Discussions, Increasing the number of Calling Attentions and giving maximum Opportunities to the Opposition during the Business Advisory Committee Meeting. We will also demand strict action against the Officials who give Incomplete, Incorrect and Misleading Replies to the Legislative Assembly.”
