Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday defended NRI Commissioner and BJP leader Narendra Sawaikar over the controversy surrounding his social media post, saying it had no connection with the terms “cockroach” or “termite” allegedly used in reference to youths.
Speaking to reporters, Sawant said Sawaikar’s post was being misinterpreted for political reasons.
“The post has no connection with words like ‘cockroach’ or ‘termite’ referring to youths. Some people interpret statements according to their political views and have a habit of politicising every issue,” the Chief Minister said.
Sawant said the controversy was being fuelled by political interpretation rather than the actual content of the post.
