Canacona: The tourist taxi operators from Palolem Beach in Canacona have said that their business have been severely affected after “Goa Miles” intruding in their affairs.
The tourist taxi operators claim that the “Goa Miles” have been getting into unfair practice due to which the business has struck an imbalance.
The agitated taxi operators on Tuesday met Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes.
They claimed that Canacona has 700 taxis of which only 300 taxis get the business per day. “But on the other hand, Goa Miles they come all the way from North Goa to share the business, reducing it further,” they said.
The tourist taxi operators said that Palolem is the only beach where you get business. They say that Goa Miles taxi charge extra compare to the local tourists.
They said that they are into financial difficulties and have no funds even to renew the insurance of their vehicles.
Fernandes assured them to support and come back to him after the scheduled meeting of taxi operators with Director of Transport in Panaji on Wednesday.
