Panaji: Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik and BJP Goa Chief Sadanand Tanavade welcomed Naik brothers, Reitesh and Roy into the party fold.
In a function held in Panaji, both the brothers, sons of Congress MLA Ravi Naik, joined the BJP. The father has already distanced himself from the move claiming that his sons are adult enough to decide what is best for them.
Shripad Naik and Tanavade welcomed both the brothers in the party, which is being looked upon as a strategy of the saffron party to get their footsteps in Ponda Assembly constituency.
Though Roy and Reitesh may be politically insignificant in the assembly constituency, all eyes are now on Ravi Naik. Senior Naik has said that he remains to be a congressman.
The move is also looked upon as an attempt to increase BJP’s might in the influential Bhandari community.
