Porvorim: Slamming the BJP’s attempts to “pass the parcel” of blame for the issues surrounding the newly inaugurated Porvorim flyover, AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik questioned whether the BJP believed that Goans’ lives and hopes for development were merely a game. He alleged that the “Pocket First” government was least interested in the welfare of Goans and more interested in the benefits arising from issuing tenders.

Valmiki pointed out that when the flyover was completed, several BJP leaders rushed to take credit for the project, from the Chief Minister making reels and organising supercar rallies to Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte giving an interview while seated on the flyover, and PWD Minister Digambar Kamat giving an interview while travelling on the flyover. He said that now that concerns have been raised regarding alleged design flaws, they are distancing themselves from responsibility.

Valmiki further alleged that the BJP was interested only in taking credit while remaining silent on the alleged design flaws. He also pointed out that residents of Porvorim faced inconvenience during the construction of the flyover but are now unable to access it.

AAP Goa Vice President Sunil Signapurkar described the Porvorim flyover as a major engineering failure and questioned whether it was initially designed to provide easy access to casinos. AAP Goa Vice President Manuel Cardozo alleged that the BJP had not invested adequately in proper signage to prevent accidents.

The AAP leaders stated that the party would hold the BJP accountable for what they described as a major blunder that has cost the state crores of rupees.
