Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa set a target of winning 30 out of 40 seats during the upcoming Goa legislative assembly election, reestablishing their government for the continuous fourth time in the coastal state.

Addressing a press conference after attending party’s state Executive committee meeting in Panaji on Saturday, BJP Goa President Damodar Naik said that the party has resolved to contest the upcoming Goa Assembly election with full might.

He said that the party has set a target of winning at least 30 out of 40 seats in the state. Naik stated that the party organisation will be strengthened across all the 40 Assembly constituencies of Goa.

“Our attempt would be to win the maximum seats. The target right now is 30. The slogan is 30 seats in 2027,” he said.

The general election for Goa legislative Assembly is due for early 2027, mostly in February month. BJP currently is in power in the coastal state with the support of 33 MLAs including 28 of its own.

Naik told reporters that the Executive Committee meeting was guided by Union Minister L Murugan, Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Member of Parliament Sadanand Shet Tanavade and others.

He said that the meeting also adopted a ‘political resolution’ congratulating PM Narendra Modi for being the longest serving elected Prime Minister of the country.

When asked about the decision of its ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (Shinde) announcing the contest election in Goa despite being part of the NDA, Naik said that the decisions on such issues will be taken at the relevant time.
