GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar on Thursday morning said that the prices of groceries and vegetables had sky rocketed and people had to face financial crisis dampening the spirit to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Amomkar speaking to reporters said that the prices of LPG Cylinders were on the highest level till date and this had caused a lot of inconvenience to people .

Anonkar while terming it unfortunate that people had to face financial crisis during celebration also demanded the BJP to roll back hiked prices of Fuel and LPG cylinders that had subsequently led to the price rise in all other commodities including groceries.
” During our Congress Government, Vegetables and groceries were provided at a subsidized rates during festivals. I as the chairman of Horticulture department had ensured that prices of vegetables were subsidized during all festivals immaterial of religions . Today a person may want to celebrate Ganesh but he has to think twice because price of every item is doubled making things difficult. The BJP must get down prices so that the people can celebrate the festivals with good spirits and peace of mind. The process of distributing groceries and vegetables should have ideally been through a centralized process at subsidized rates ” said Amonkar
Amonkar also hit out on BJP legislators for distributing groceries during festivals in the election year
” We have seen many BJP legislators who are distributing groceries this year. Mormugao MLA And Urban Development minister Milind Naik has this record pattern of not visiting the constituency during the first 4 years but distributing groceries in the election year. Worst is that these groceries are distributed in the last election year and that too in a pick and choose fashion. These groceries are given only to selected supporters and I want to ask Naik if Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated only by his specific supporters. He being the MLA of the entire constituency should have been giving groceries to all the people especially because the people are short of money and many have either lost jobs or are on half salaries amidst the pandemic ” said Amonkar

  1. Congress Voters voted Congress and gave 17 MLAs to Goa. Today there are only 3 Congress MLAs left with the Congress Voters in Goa. Others all went in BJP. Feeling very SAD for Congress Voters. Now Congress Voters has very nice honest alternative Party in Goa and they should vote to this Honest Aam Aadmi Party in coming all elections in Goa.
