The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemns the anti-people decision of the BJP Government to impose an additional 20% charge on electricity consumption from 5.00 PM to 9.00 AM. This is nothing short of daylight robbery on hardworking Goans, who are already burdened with skyrocketing prices, unemployment, and economic slowdown.
This move will directly affect households, students, small shopkeepers, and business establishments who depend on electricity during these peak hours. Instead of providing relief to citizens, the Sawant-led BJP Government has chosen to punish Goans for its own failures and inefficiency in managing the power sector.
The BJP Government, which once promised Swayampurna Goa, has today made it Suffering Goa. From fuel prices to water tariffs, and now electricity — every essential need of Goans is being exploited for revenue generation.
The Congress Party demands that the Government immediately withdraw this draconian and unjust 20% hike, failing which there will be widespread protests across Goa. The BJP Government must stop treating Goans as revenue machines to fill its empty coffers.
