Panaji : Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa celebrated Antyodaya divas today. BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade speaking about Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya who introduced the concept of Antyodaya said “one of BJP’s core values were set by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay”

“He was a veteran politician who was one of the key leaders of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) which later became Bhartiya Janata Party,” said Tanavade.

“The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) icon proposed concept of “Antyodaya” that now has become the guiding principle of the BJP-ruled states in the country,” said Tanavade.

Upadhyay  was a supporter of the right-wing Hindutva ideology and a leader of the political party BJS. He was born on September 25, 1916.  ‘Antyodaya’ means the “rise of the last person”. Upadhyay believed that economic growth cannot be done without the eradication of poverty. Hence through Antyodaya he sought to help the poorest of the poor man.
