Bengaluru-based CEO arrested in Karnataka for killing her son in Goa

Panaji: Goa police have arrested Suchana Seth, co-founder of Artificial Intelligence start up for murdering her four-year-old son and travelling with his dead body to Karnataka.
Team of Calangute police led by Inspector Paresh Naik on Sunday night arrived at Chitradurga in Karnataka and arrested the 39-year-old mother.

Naik said that Seth had checked in the rented apartment at Candolim on January 6 along with her son. After staying at the apartment for two days, Seth informed the staff of the apartment that she wants to leave to Bangaluru for some work and asked them to arrange for a taxi
“The staff suggested that she can fly to Bengaluru which would be cheaper option other than hiring a taxi which is an expensive proposition,” he said.

Naik said that the accused insisted that she would travel by taxi only, and accordingly the vehicle was arranged on January 8 in which she left early morning.

According to her Linkendin page, the accused is the Chief Executive officer of start-up Mindful AI Lab and was amongst the top “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021.”
The Police inspector said that the crime came to light when staff of the hotel went to clean the room and found blood stains on the towel. “The management of the hotel immediately informed Calangute police station, who went to the spot,” he said.

The staff also informed that her four-year-old son was not seen with her when she left the apartment and she was also carrying an unusually heavy bag.
The police, then called the accused and inquired about her the blood stains and missing son.
“The accused told us that the blood stains were due to her monthly periods. She also told us that her son was with her friend in Margao town (South Goa) and provided the address,” he said.

Naik said that he immediately took the help of Fatorda Police station (near Margao), only to find out that the address given was fake.

The Inspector later told the driver, who was on the way to Bengaluru and had reached Chitradurga district in Karnataka, to take the accused to the nearest police station.
Naik said that the local police station in Chitradurga checked the bag in which they found dead body of the child.

Team of Calangute police immediately rushed to Chitradurga and has obtained transit remand for the accused who is being brought to Goa. Naik said that the accused would be produced before local court in Mapusa town of Goa on Tuesday afternoon.

He said that postmortem on the body of the child would be conducted in Chitradurga.
Police have informed husband of the accused, Venkat Raman, who is currently in Jakarta, he said.
