Panaji: The Pernem Police on Tuesday conducted a narcotics raid and arrested a native of Himachal Pradesh for possessing charas worth around Rs 34,000.
The accused, 34-years-old Chander Mani, a native of Tikri in Himachal Pradesh, was arrested from was found staying at Urmalbag, Morjim. A search was conducted on him during which narcotics substance namely charas was found in his possession.
As per PI Jivba Dalvi information was received regarding a drug peddlar at Morjim, Pernem – Goa. Accordingly a raiding team was formed under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi consisting of PSI Praful Giri and staff.
The raid went in from 02:15 pmin the afternoon till late evening.
The accused is under custody and an offence under section 20(b)(ii)(A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered. Interrogation is currently going on to find out the source of the drugs.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Shri Gajanand Prabhudessai and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon, IPS.
