Margao: All the councilors from Digambar Kamat led panel and a councilor from Goa Forward Party on Sunday joined Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the elections for Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council.
Kamat had contested the municipal election in alliance with Vijai Sardesai’s Goa Forward Party. On Sunday, all his councilors joined BJP giving clear majority to the party in the civic body.
What was surprising is that Raju Naik, one of the councilor from Goa Forward Party panel, also joined BJP along with the panel.
The total strength of BJP in Margao municipal council has now gone up to 16.
