Margao: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Tuesday personally went around with the loudspeaker mounted on a mini tempo making public announcement about the lockdown in his Assembly constituency of Curtorim in South Goa.
Curtorim Assembly constituency has been witnessing increase in COVID-19 cases.
Lourenco on Tuesday hired a mini tempo to go around the constituency with the public announcement. “Don’t observe lockdown just because I say. It is for your own safety. Stay indoor to be safe,” the MLA said.
Curtorim has announced a lockdown till May 12 with only the shops with essential commodities allowed to be open during few hours in the morning.
“I don’t know why CM is averse to impose strict lockdown. I am requesting him with the folded hands to save lives of the people,” the MLA said.
He said that the situation in the state is grim. “I fear that in some days, there will be a situation where people will die due to lack of Oxygen,” Lourenco said.
