Panaji: Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) has pointed out discrepancies with regards to the Income Tax returns filed by the Congress candidate Babush Monserratte and AAP candidate Valmiki Naik in the affidavit submitted by them while filing nominations for the Panaji by-elections.

ADR informed that Monserratte in his affidavit has mentioned that for the year 2015-16, he has filed IT returns to the tune of Rs 24,50,076. However, in 2017 affidavit he claimed that the amount was Rs 24,84,222 for the year 2015-16.

ADR also pointed out that despite the fact that the Net worth of the candidate, as per his affidavits filed in 2017 and 2019, has reduced by almost Rs 9 Crores during the last two years, the candidate has shown Cash in Hand of Rs 33, 33,822 each (Self & Spouse)on the day of filing nominations and filed IT Returns in 2017-18 for an amount of Rs 1, 69,84,756.

Valmiki Naik of AAP too has similar errors. In his fresh affidavit, the candidate has mentioned IT figures as Rs 3,91,341 for 2015-16.

But in 2017 affidavit, he has shown figures as Rs 2,89,810 for the year 20-15-16.
