Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa on Tuesday announced that they are not going to participate in the election for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Goa.

The election for the post of the Upper House would be held on July 24.

AAP Goa President Amit Palekar told reporters that his party will not participate in the election as they don’t have the required mandate. He said that the party will neither field the candidate nor participate in the election process.

“We don’t want to waste the precious time of the Assembly. We don’t appreciate that,” Palekar said. The election would be held during the monsoon session of Goa Legislative Assembly that is starting from July 17.

When asked about supporting Congress candidate, Palekar said that the Congress party is yet to announce their candidate for the election. “We will contest Rajya Sabha election whenever we have numbers in the Goa Assembly,” he said.
