According to Shyam, the Valpoi Zonal Agricultural Department had taken a group of 25 farmers from Sattari for the workshop at Mhableshwar were they were taught, how to grow the strawberry and other agricultural crops in Goan soil favourable to climate.
After the end of learning workshop at Mhableshwar, while coming home, he had bought more than a thousand saplings of strawberry. In second week of November this year, he had planted strawberry in around three thousand square meter of agricultural land in his village.
Now, after almost one and half month, now he started getting the strawberry yields.
“The Goan Climatic condition is very much suits for the strawberry plantation. I have done the strawberry plantation in my field, while planting the around thousand sampling of strawberry. All the saplings of strawberry are okay and now slowly slowly they are giving yields,” Gaonkar said.
There is no proper market for strawberry in Sattari. But I will create the market for strawberry soon in Taluka, said farmer Shyam Gaonkar.
