2934 Taxi permits to be cancelled for not installing digital meter : Transport Minister

Panaji : Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has informed press that 2,934 taxi permits will be cancelled for not installing digital meter.
He also stated that Government of Goa has increased taxi fare by Rs 3 per kilometer, digital meter booking centers have been increased from 4 to 8 centers. The government has instructed taxi owners whose series are from 0 to 1 to install digital meters by 25th July.
As of now only 137 taxi owners have installed meters , around 500 have booked. “Government will cancel permits of remaining 2934 odd taxis, now we have begum booking and installing meters for series 2 to 3,” said Godinho.
“Government has restructured repayment of digital meter cost scheme, instead of 3 to 4 weeks, taxi owners can claim 50% money they spend on digital meters in four days, remaining 50% they can get in one year during renewal/recharge,” Said Godinho.
