Margao: The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), in coordination with Central and Western Railways, has announced around 254 special trains to facilitate the movement of passengers during the upcoming Ganpati festival, a senior official said on Tuesday.

KRCL Deputy General Manager Baban Ghatge said that 246 out of the 254 special trains would be operated in coordination with Central Railway on various routes between September 11 and 27, 2027, during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

“These trains will be run between CSMT and Sawantwadi, Ratnagiri, Madgaon, and Mangaluru, besides LTT-Ratnagiri, LTT-Madgaon, LTT-Mangaluru, Pune-Ratnagiri, and Pune-Sawantwadi, among other routes,” Ghatge told reporters in Margao.

He said the trains would operate on different dates and that passengers should check the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the Konkan Railway app for the exact dates and timings.

In coordination with Western Railway, eight additional special trains have been announced, which will originate from stations including Bandra Terminus (Mumbai), Vadodara (Gujarat), Vishvamitri (Gujarat), Bhusawal (Maharashtra), and Valsad (Gujarat).

Ghatge said that bookings for all the special trains had already commenced and urged passengers travelling for the Ganpati festival to make use of the additional services instead of relying solely on regular trains.

“I request our esteemed passengers to go ahead and book on these special trains rather than depending on the regular trains being run by Konkan Railway, so that they can travel comfortably,” he said.
