Wife, paramour arrested for killing husband in Goa

Panaji: Goa police on Wednesday cracked a blind murder case reported in Bicholim town of North Goa, within eight hours of its reporting, by arresting deceased’s wife and her paramour.

Bicholim police arrested Sangita Ramesh Siddagoli (29) and Ramu Shankar Gawali (50) for brutally stabbing to death Ramesh Siddagoli (39). The body was found on a bridge at Bicholim town on Wednesday morning, a senior police official said.

Both the accused were arrested at Thivim Railway station when they were trying to board the train after committing the crime, the official said. Accused Ramu is brother in law (sister’s husband) of Sangita, police said adding that both of them murdered Ramesh after he objected to their illicit relationship.

The victim, who is hailing from Maharashtra, was working as a migrant labourer in Goa.

Police said that on Tuesday late night, both the accused assaulted the victim with sharp weapon, multiple times on his back, which resulted in his death.

Police team led by PI, Bicholim Shri Rahul S. Naik and PI, Valpoi PS Shri Dinesh Gadekar along with other staff of Bicholim PS consisting of ASI- Mukund Pal, Head Constables- Vijay Mandrekar and Hassan Patel, Police Constables-Shailesh Govekar, Anil Dessai, Gaurav Vaingakar, Pritam Parab, Vishal Parab, Laxman Matonkar, Abhishek Naik, Harshad Gaonkar and LPCs-Prachita Gawas and Ashwini Gawas, all of Bicholim Police Station under the guidance of SDPO, Bicholim Shri Sagar Ekoskar cracked the case.
