Why Goan fisherwomen face uncertain future at Poinguinim, Canacona

Canacona: During our visit to Canacona when we shot the series BEFORE ASSEMBLY STARTS, we met group of fisherwomen at Poinguinim, who are looking at bleak future due to invasion of fish vendors from across the border.

These fisherwomen who are paying tax to occupy a tiny market at Poinguinim wait for the buyers even as fish vendors from Majali in Karnataka sell the fish sitting at the roadside.

Neither local authorities nor Canacona police are taking action against the illegal vending at the roadside.
