Panaji: Congress party’s failure to file disqualification petition against its ten MLAs who had split overnight to join BJP has raised several eyebrows.

Days after ten MLAs led by then leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar formed a separate group and merged into BJP, the Congress has failed to file disqualification petition against them.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee’s office bearers had resolved to file disqualification petition claiming that the entire act amounts to defection.

“Now, it looks like congress has willingly offered their MLAs to BJP so as to control some other forces. If Congress was serious, they would have shown willingness and haste in filing disqualification petition,” a senior congress leader opined, refusing to get quoted.

He said that the party leaders are mum over the entire issue even as out of ten, three have been inducted in the state cabinet and rest have been nominated as Chairman on various state run corporations.

We could not reach to GPCC President Girish Chodankar, but would like to get his reaction during the day on this issue.
